The interactive map located at http://gomex.erma.noaa.gov/erma.html#x=-90.42000&y=28.03000&z=6&layers=3796+4450+4442+4382+3434+497+2948+2950 depicts the 2010 BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Data related to the spill are updated constantly. The background image for the map consists of satellite imagery of the southeastern United States and eastern Mexico and their road networks accompanies a crisp rendering of Gulf of Mexico undersea topography. The location of the wellhead, the extent of ocean surface covered with the oil slick, the location of planning centers where oil spill mitigation of the spill's effects are all displayed in this map. In addition, the trajectory of the surface oil -- with reference to currents in the Gulf -- is also available.
